A diva attitude, Barbie looks, and now starring in Style’s latest hit show, Big Rich Atlanta, Ashlee Wilson-Hawn is a Georgia Peach that you can’t help but watch. Ashlee is redicuouly honest and entertaining and doesn’t lose sleep when someone doesn’t like her. It’s her way or no way attitude that’s refreshing to watch. She’s a blend of Cher from Clueless and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
This self-proclaimed “reality T.V. buff” knows good T.V. when she sees it and knows how to create it too. On the first episode viewers saw Ashlee host her own divorce party and get into two confrontations with her cast mates. But make no mistake, Ashlee is far from weak. In this 13-episode season of Big Rich Atlanta Ashlee will go through her share of ups and downs which includes a “horrendous attack” by another cast member and launching her lifestyle brand and philanthropy to fight against hate, Divarella. This beauty queen knows her Queen B status on the show and makes no apologies about it.
Read our interview with Ashlee below and watch Big Rich Atlanta Wednesdays at 8/7C on the Style Network.
Q: Viewers see the tension between you and Kahdijiha Rowe on the first episode. Why do you two dislike each other?
A: “Kahdijiha and I met off camera with the producers about a month before filming started and acted like a complete pompous rude little bitch. Actually that first day of filming where you see where the tension is I didn’t even know Kahdijiha. I didn’t even know Kahdijiha’s last name so for me I didn’t have a problem with her. I wouldn’t have looked her way if I wasn’t filming a television show with her. Kahdijiha has a bad attitude and has felony charges now due to that bad attitude. I don’t have any desire to be around people with that kind of mean spirit or attitude. She doesn’t have any friends on the show. Neither Harvin and Meyer, me or Megan are friends with her. We’re here to make good T.V. and be funny and fun and play our characters, she’s here to be mean spirited and angry.”
Q: Why do you think people gravitate towards you?
A: “I think people are so gravitated towards me because to be my friend is to get complete and total honesty and I think in our society it’s a dying art to find friends like that. So I think that once people get to find a friend like that or meet someone like that they hold on to it forever because I think it’s quite a treasure.”
Q: You said you are a pageant queen. What pageants did you compete in?
A: “I was Miss Georgia Teen 2001. You’re more likely to have your son be an NFL player than your daughter be Miss Georgia so it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. I won on my first try so I made my mark on the pageant world for sure.”
Q: What do you really think of Megan and what’s your relationship like with her now?
A: “Megan and I have always been great friends. I mean we really have fun on camera with it but Megan and I are really really good friends. We did meet because of the boy that’s currently my boyfriend but it really wasn’t any real riff-raff between Megan and I. It’s just fun.”
Q: We see you, Harvin, and Myer go the strip club. Is going to strip clubs like going to the movies in Atlanta?
A: “It’s totally like going to the movies in Atlanta. On the Real Housewives of Atlanta they went to the strip club and I said you f*cking copy-cat, you stole my idea. It was my idea for the producers to take me there. I think it’s hysterical.”
Q: How is your relationship with Harvin?
A: “Harvin is my best friend. We are together every single day. We were together till 4 o’clock this morning and she has turned out to be my real life bestie. I’m sad that I’ve missed 28 years of being her friend. Obviously I love her. She’s awesome.”
Q: It’s obvious you’re the Queen B on the show already. Why do you think that is?
A: “I went into this knowing I was going to be an entertaining and fun character. I have the resources to be big rich because I am big rich. So I knew when I came into this show that I would be able to bring the brand big rich, I was disappointed the first day because I felt like they could have had stronger people financially on the show, that was my biggest concern. But then I realize you know be a leader, step up, bring the entertainment to the show and I think the producers knew I was going to do that and put me in the position to be the star of the show. I’m down for it and I hope our show is pretty successful.”
Q: How is Big Rich Atlanta different from Big Rich Texas?
A: Probably because some of us are big rich and in Big Rich Texas I don’t see a whole lot of big rich on there. Our show there’s Rolls Royce, mansions, and fast cars and on their show I don’t really see any of that. I remember when Pam was on the show, she was big rich and I loved Pam.
